DAY TWO I

All the tech has failed so I can only file WiFi from the hotel. Partly as a result this is a very short post written on a dark bus leaving Buenos Aires Cricket & Rugby Club at one am. The boys are still dancing. We have eaten three cows. Each.

I will produce full match reports but for now this is all I can manage. These were mixed teams and the day finished one each. Both matches were played on the same pitch which was something of a curate's egg. Mostly good firm ground with a fair covering of springy grass but with some boggy areas and one or two stretches of standing water.

BACRC XV 7pts vs. MRFC Pumas 20pts

Squad: Eckles, McHugh, Atherton, Smith (Capt.), Reid, Khindria, Basson, Edney, Tolan (VC), Hine, Evans, Whiteford, Balfour, Sanders, Kaye, Avery C, Carn, Dow

BACRC XV 38pts vs. MRFC Jaguars 16pts

Squad: McCarthy, Anderson, Andrews-Jones, MacSwan, Hibberdine, Thompson, Thomas (VC), Avery A, Jones, Nicol, Orchard, Baxter, Cronbach, Bart (Capt.), O'Flaherty, Hull, Keir, O'Callen-Smith, Eckles

The welcome on arrival and the after match hospitality were the best I have ever experienced in thirty years of sports tours. Easily. We have invited BACRC to visit us in 2012 and we will have to start planning our welcome for them now if we even hope to come close to matching it.

  3. Looking forward to the coming reports.

Seems like everyone did themselves proud....after such a long journey and probably little sleep, much excitement etc, to have played rugby and still be partying at 1 am is astounding. Is it something to do with the Hockey girls? I do hope no one has incurred a Code Four disciplinary violation on the first day.

Keep up the good work one and all.

Please tell Will I got 9 runs, took one spectacular catch (and had two valiant efforts go down), and ran someone out, in the village cricket match last night. Had to borrow his box.........which was too small.
